We're a six person homeschooling family--complete with one 62 pound "puppy" and two grumpy part-Siamese cats-- on a cross-country pilgrimmage to a new brand new life (in the dead of winter). Come along for the ride! Is there a Starbucks near here?

San Francisco here we come!

We drove down to Fisherman's Warf and found a criminally cheap souvenier shop where we bought tons of postcards and magnets (I envision my deep freeze covered in magnets from our travels.) We went to Pier 39, where we saw the famous lazy (and smelly) Sea Lions. We stopped at Boudin's Sourdough bakery along the way to Ghiardelli Square, which was not worth the walk (although we did get a free square of chocolate for our troubles).

I bought my San Francisco Starbucks mug on our way back to our street-parked (FREE) van. Fisherman's Wharf earned a perfect 6 stars. Boudin's earned a 4. Ghiardelli Square 2 (anti-climactic, as Hubby said).

Overall, a fun day.

Breakfast: Up for grabs in the TLF.
Lunch: Ham sandwiches in the van.
Supper: Leftovers in the room.

Weather: PERFECT! Sunny and clear, 60ish degrees.

I remember mid-coastal California weather. (Stationed in Monterey, California back in 1975-76 and again in 1980.) The temperature is always (or nearly always) 60-ish. It is wonderful. San Francisco is a beautiful city and I'm glad you and your family got to see it. Thanks for inviting us to live vicariously through the trip!
